Public Works

The Department of Public Works is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the water plants, mains, hydrants and customer-related water problems at entry points, and approximately 570 resident water meters. The Public Works staff is always on call and can be contacted to respond to any water issue 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The City has an after hours answering service that should assist residents in contacting the appropriate staff member.

Our water source is drawn groundwater from the Florida aquifer and is chlorinated to meet Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) disinfection regulations. The raw water is tested frequently per DEP yearly monitoring schedules and a Consumer Confidence Report is prepared by the city's water operator and posted for viewing on our Annual Reports & Postings page under the Government tab.

The city's water operator is responsible for maintaining appropriate chlorine residual in the system and keeping the city DEP compliant by conducting the various scheduled water tests and analyses .
